Come help us promote quality of life for those with Parkinson disease and their care partners. We need your help in a variety of ways:
Volunteers for the office are always needed, as half of our volunteers are snowbirds. Others may be caregivers who have limited time and attention that they can give to volunteerism; some are individuals with PD themselves, who have limited energy and physical ability. Responsibilities of the office volunteer include: making copies, answering the phone, signing members up for classes/events, greeting visitors, sending faxes, preparing mailings, making coffee, keeping the office tidy etc.
Requirements: Write articles for newspapers, magazines, radio announcements; submit articles using PR database. This individual should have some writing experience. A bonus would be an individual who has connections with the local newspapers or magazines; however, that is not a prerequisite. Articles would include those on upcoming education programs, fundraisers, symposium, social events, special activities, new programs/services or perhaps, on Parkinson disease.
Responsibility for this job includes doing a weekly, one-page Newsflash of events or news items of interest to our membership. Good writing skills, computer skills and some graphic arts experience is helpful, or we will train. Once the person is familiar with the job, it usually takes 1-2 hours.
This too would need to be an individual who has good writing skills and ideally some previous experience in writing grants. It can be done from the persons home rather than from our office, if desired.
Ideally, this would be an individual who might have previous or current experience in finance, bookkeeping, investing, business or banking. Responsibilities include: review of budget, monthly finances and audit, as well as making suggestions to Board related to finance.
This committee is primarily made up of chairpersons of our three major fundraisers, as well as others who wish to contribute ideas, guidance or time toward fundraising.
This committee identifies prospective large donors and makes contact with them, establishing a continuing relationship conducive to major giving
